A. im not quite sure what your trying to ask but i interputed your question as asking why did it happen? well then it would be the us goal of 'containing' the spread of communisum, much like the korean, the northern half of vietnam wanted to unite with american set up south, and knew war was the only way to do it, the US not wanting communism to get into vietnam complettly sent their soldiers over to 'help' the much much less well equpt south compared to the well soviet equipped north, this was a proxy war-a war were then soviets and US fought each, other, by not actully fighting each other.
